The Green Agreement for the Promotion of Electromobility is meant to contribute to the transition of Greece towards a climate-neutral economy, and is in line with the main objectives of the National Energy and Climate Plan, Greece’s national "roadmap" for achieving the goals of the European Green Deal. Electromobility is identified as a key factor in achieving national pollution targets. The transport sector accounts for about 25% of national carbon dioxide emissions, while high rates of urbanization coupled with a higher than average age of the vehicle fleet (15.5 years compared to EU average of 11.7) exacerbate the impact of air pollution due to motorized transport.
